About T Barrel Ranch

Doug Hughes and Dr. Zeno (Heart Of The Cartel x Dashing Katye)

Located in Northwest Oklahoma near Carmen, Oklahoma, T Barrel Ranch is a division of Doug Hughes Farms, a fourth generation hard red winter wheat and stocker cattle operation. Current members include, namesake (or more correctly initial sake) Tatum Hughes, of Oklahoma City, currently majoring in Nursing at the University of Central Oklahoma, Lisa Wells of Lindsay, Oklahoma, who is the Executive Director for Pioneer Library System and Doug Hughes, who is on the farm. T Barrel Ranch began as a daughter/father team going to junior rodeos, which of course included dreams of going to the NFR. That dream has morphed into raising an equine athlete that can make it to the NFR.

The Story of the Brand

As Doug and Tatum traveled the junior rodeo circuit and barrel racing, they were constantly looking for a brand. Not just any brand would work. Like any brand, it needed to be special. As a child growing up on the farm, Doug proudly wore pliers on his belt and went through a phase of making things out of baling wire using his pliers. As a dad in the arena, Doug was always picking up rocks, etc. While Tatum was riding in Barn 6 at the OKC Fairgrounds, Doug picked a piece of wire out of the dirt. He immediately envisioned the brand. The piece of wire was a four inch cross someone had made of baling wire. The cross became the initial T with circles/barrels at each point and the brand became reality.
